Smoke over the pacific due to the fires that are raging throughout San Diego County. We experienced record breaking temperatures and strong Santa Ana winds in recent days. These off-shore winds pushed the smoke towards the coast creating this effect. There are about 9 fires that are burning in San Diego. The first was a brushfire that started in the 4S Ranch area of Rancho Bernardo. A second fire consumed brush in the Santa Luz are and moved into Rancho Santa Fe. There were no injuries or property damages resulting from these two fires. Just when we thought we dodged a bullet, a fire broke out in the Carlsbad area the next morning. This one destroyed dozens of homes and is still threatening many more. All in all 9 fires are burning and arson is not ruled out. Today, (5/15/14) the temperatures have come down slightly and the winds have died down, which is a big help and a break for the fire fighters as they battle to contain these fires. A big thanks goes out to these brave men and women who kept many homes from burning down.
